1967 Volvo P1800

What is it?

It's a 1967 Volvo P1800. Volvo made these cars between 1961 and 1973. This is the 2-door coupe, but there was also a 3-door wagon.

It doesn't look like a Volvo.

No, it was designed by a man named Pelle Petterson. He previously worked at Frua Design who designed Maserati cars in the 1950s and 1960s. People say this car looks similar to the 1960 Maserati 3500.

What is the story with this car?

This car was bought in New York State in 1967. The same family owned the car for 51 years and drove it regularly until the owner was too old to drive it anymore. I bought the car in 2018 and drove it to work everyday and then brought it to France in 2022.

Has it been restored?

Not really. The previous owner had the car repainted in 2008 and had new seat covers installed in 2010. After I bought the car in 2018, I fixed a lot of rust, rebuilt the carburetors and ignition system, upgraded a lot of the electrical systems, repainted some areas, and repaired a cracked dashboard. Other than that, the car is original. I drive it a lot and wash it about once a year.

How many miles are on it?

I don't know. It's been driven its whole life, but the speedometer was broken for about 30 years, so the 5-digit odometer only shows about 32,000 miles, but I have no idea how many are actually on the car.
