One of the things I would like to try to do to the Sterling is fabricate headlight covers similar to the 360 Modena. This would probably be the most involved body modification I would try to make. As you can see from the picture below, the lines of the car are acutally very similar, which makes me think that this would work well.

Here is a close up of what the headlight looks like.

And here are some pics of what it looks like on the Modena from different angles.

One of the bigger challenges will be to get lights that are DOT approved. Cars such as the ones below would be good donors for headlights, but parts yards usually ask high-dollar for these types of lights, knowing the dealer prices are insane, and that they are sought after by custom car builders.
Here are a few examples:
1990 and newer 300zx
1996 and newer 3000gt/Stealth
1993-1997 (?) Integra

Here is a pretty good kit for a 1997+ RX-7. It is a pretty good example of what I am trying to build, but at $950, it would be too expensive to buy and convert to the Sterling.

Lastly, here are some aftermarket driving lights. These would be the most affordable way to go, but they have several shortcomings. First, the beams come in different widths, therefore you must do some research before choosing the right light. Also, light intensity varies from light to light. Lastly, most of these are not DOT certified to be used as headlights. However, I did see a GT40 kit using Hella lights similar to these as headlights, and it was inspected and street legal. Virginia is actually rather leinient on things like that, or I guess I should say, they just dont check too thouroughly in state inspections. As long as you had a light that worked well, getting it passed inspection in VA would not be difficult.

As for the covers, one of the ideas that I had was to use the rear window from a 1990 Honda (or something with a similar curve to it) and have covers cut out from each side. The red area in the photo below marks where the covers would be cut from. One would come from each side of the window.

Finally, this is a computer rendering of what it might look like when finished.
