I'd like to rent the Shagbus, how do I do it? The Shagbus is availble to rent for a night (all day evet, etc) for the low sum of $250. For that low price, that includes 1 or more kegs, a driver, a bus that can tote 14 people, a place to crash, and the ultimate party experience. Can anyone rent it? Right now, the offer is only open to friends of mine. But Rick, I just stumbled upon your website, and would love to rent the Shagbus, are there any exceptions? Yes, all-female collegiate cheerleading squads are also permitted to rent the bus for events or even weekend retreats. Discounts may apply. What if I'm willing to drive it myself? No. For insurance reasons, I'd rather not have other people driving it. What if I'd like to bring my own beer? Sure, that will bring the cost to $200. Isnt that still a little steep? I think I can rent a small coach for that? Well, considering that last time we rented it out, it took me and my room-mate a day to prepare it, and a day to clean it afterwards, and our operating expenses alone (gas, septic disposal, beer) came to over $100, I'd say its rather cheap. Besides, you're paying for ambience as well. What is the longest trip you'll take it on. Right now, I dont think I'd want to go more than 3 hours away or so. Thats an interesting looking bus, who makes it? As far as I can tell, its home built. The motor is from an Oldsmobile, the steering colum from a Chevy, the dash is some GM car (except it had been cut in half with a saw and widened with sheet metal, the headlights are Pontiac, the cabnetry is custom made (not manufactured) and the VIN number is issued by the provence of Quebec, Canada. Someone built this thing, and had a VIN number issued, as far as I can tell. The outside says "Toronado" on it, but its just a sticker. Theres a few spots that indicate that at one time it was candy-apple green (how cool would that be!) and another time it was dark brown. Everything used in the construction could be found at a hardware store. I have no idea who built it, or what year it was made. Some documentation says 1980, some says 1984.
