The Classic Mini

Ahh, the mini. Its been made by many different makers and comes in many forms. Panel vans, sedans, pick ups, wooded wagons, and even some custom convertibles are not all that uncommon. I first saw these things in Australia, where you can pick them up for a song. Some have 2 cylinder engines, but most are 4 cyls. I saw a documentary where 2 guys drove one of these across a desert. Where the sand got too deep, they lifted it a little, and shoved it along with the help of a throttle cable they installed on the roof. Here in the US they are not cheap, as they have to be imported, and the parts are a bit hard to come by. If you want to see a great movie that has these in it, rent a movie called The Italian Job, from the late 60s. Great movie. Theres been several million of these made in the 30 some years they've been being produced, and in places where they're plentiful (Europe, Australia) you can find quite a few custom and restored ones.
